How did Sudoku originate?
The modern version of the sudoku puzzle was invented in 1979 by an American architect named Howard Garns. It was first published in Dell Magazine under the name 'Number Place'.
In 1986, it was made popular under the name 'Sudoku' by the Japanese puzzle company Nikoli.
